This partnership is Boral's key arts development initiative and supports Boral's commitment to respectful and sensitive development of Australia's places and culture. Through this initiative we hope to demonstrate our commitment to the community, make a meaningful contribution to the arts and further our understanding of Australia's Indigenous history and traditions.
Relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are the heart of Bangarra, with their repertoire created on Country and stories gathered from respected community Elders. Bangarra’s annual program includes a national tour of a world premiere work as well as a regional and international tour, complemented with education programs, workshops and special performances and projects, planting the seeds for the next generation of performers and storytellers.
As well as providing cultural and community support, this sponsorship provides opportunities for Boral people to be involved through discounted performance tickets for employees and corporate hospitality opportunities, and a unique bi-annual family day and dance workshop for Boral employees and their families.
In 2009 Boral and Bangarra were recognised by the Australian Business Arts Foundation as the “Partnership of the Year”.
